What is Delta 8?
Delta-8 THC (delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol) is one of many cannabinoid compounds found in the hemp plant.
Cannabinoids interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates function such as sleep, mood, appetite, memory, and reproduction. Everyone has an endocannabinoid system, regardless of whether or not they use cannabis.
Delta-8 THC can cause mild feelings of euphoria, stress-relief, general mood uplift, and/or relief from symptoms such as pain, inflammation, nausea, insomnia, or loss of appetite. Notably, Delta-8 THC has been known to produce these effects without the anxiety or paranoia typically associated with Delta-9 THC.
Delta-8 THC contains less than 0.3% of Delta-9 THC, the chemical compound associated with cannabis, which still remains illegal at the federal level. Delta-8 THC may cause you to fail a drug test for THC, given many drug tests are not able to distinguish between Delta-8 THC and Delta-9 THC.
Given that Delta-8 is relatively new to the market, it may be difficult to find a reputable provider. When shopping for Delta-8, ensure that producers have clearly posted lab results on their website. All products should also have a label that highlights ingredients, nutritional information, dosage, and that clearly states how to reach the product’s Certificate of Analysis.
Delta-8 is federally legal, but some states may not permit product sales, even some that have already legalized medicinal and/or recreational adult-use cannabis. CLEO products do not ship to states that do not permit Delta-8 THC sales.
